Education and Experiences

Dr. Alonia is a native of Atlanta, GA. After graduating Salutatorian at Bass High School in the Little Five Points community, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree in English from Spelman College. She earned credits toward a Masters degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from Luther Rice Seminary, and she received a Doctor of Humane Letters from the Global International Alliance. Her 30+ year career has created for her a solid reputation as one who has the power to inspire people from all walks of life to identify their purpose and walk in their destiny. She has an uncanny ability to meet people where they are. Whether in a corporate, intimate, faith-based, or social setting, she is renowned for giving the audience what they need at the time of need. Without question, she is a modern-day example of one who can walk with kings and queens without losing the common touch.

Honors and Awards

Among Dr. Alonia’s honors are: winner of the Woman of Influence Award by ACHI Magazine; selection as a Woman of Excellence by Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine/Atlanta Daily World; and selection as a Hidden Figure of DeKalb County. Additionally, the Georgia Greater Black Chamber of Commerce saluted her with a leadership award, and she also earned the But-I-Fly Award from Live, Believe, Dream with Evelyn T. Keener.  

 

Dr. Alonia's work with the Atlanta Business League was saluted by the organization when she and two other phenomenal communicators were lauded as three of its top three storytellers, subsequently gracing the cover of the women’s business resource guide. Dr. Alonia is recipient of the Spelman College Alumnae Achievement Award in Media and Communications, and she was also nominated for Most Outstanding Journalist by California’s Electronic Urban Report. In May 2022, she received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Global International Alliance. Additionally, Dr. Alonia received the Presidential Award in 2024 from the Biden Administration in honor of 250 hours of community service.

Dr. Alonia  is a licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel. The year 2024 marked 24 years of excellence in ministry. She currently serves as the visionary leader of Dream to Destiny Ministries, Inc.. which was organized in April 2016.
